Celebrating a life of excellence!

The Ford Logo in Flowers

This past week, we had the opportunity to create a 3 1/2 foot Ford logo for Dick Dickerson, owner of Wesley Ford in Camas. These challenges always allow us to spread our creative wings further, and this project was no exception! With over 200 mums, 50 mini carns, some sculpting sheets of foam and dixon pins, plus some sweat and fretting, and 5 heads all put together, we came up with this brilliant life like emblem celebrating his life.

If you are looking for sympathy flowers that are truly unique to your loved one, give us a call. You won’t be disappointed!

Earth Tones Recycled Art

This month we are featuring a local artist with all the creative juices and energy to fit right in among our crowd!
Mike Meyer…a local earth-friendly garden artist!

Mike Meyer starting making birdhouses and bird feeders as gifts for family and friends. He fell in love with the creative process and in 2000, along with his equally talented wife Barbara, formed Earth Tones. They have been selling their unique art work at the Vancouver Farmer’s Market ever since.

In 2003, Mike was juried into Cracked Pots, an organization dedicated to recycling and the art created from recycled materials. You can see his garden art every year at the annual Cracked Pots Garden Art Show held at McMenamins Edgefield (Troutdale, Oregon), in July.

Mike and Barbara use everything from tin cans, bottles and garden hoses to CD’s, rope and fabric in their, earth friendly, recycled and unique creations. They just finished a successful Yard, Garden and Patio Show at the Oregon Convention Center. For more information…give them a call 360.256.2392

Big Bench Birdhouse

Every once in a while you hit the jackpot. The treated 2×2 4 foot cedar pots used to create this structure were leftovers from a large construction site. When my good friend asked if I wanted them I had no idea he would bring me a pallet full. There must have been a hundred of them! I often wonder how chemically treated lumber is disposed of? -Mike

$400 with birdhouse…can be sold separately…please inquire

Go forth and be married…Vivian!

030510-211

Vivian got married 7000 feet about Timberline in the rustic Silcox Hut a weekend or so ago. Being she is a park  ranger herself, it seemed the perfect place for her future husband and her to  make their love and vows complete. Her choice of flowers also seemed perfect, from mosses, branches, rabbit foot ferns, succulents and fern curls, to soft romatic flowers like garden roses, tulips and ranunculas, this look evoked both of their personalities perfectly!  Textural wonderment was created by Julie…a lover of anything native and Northwest! Truly Breathtaking!030510-011

Congratulations Miss Laura!

This last weekend, we delivered an elegant and simple wedding to Skamania Lodge. Laura  Knight’s bouquet consisted of dusky Sahara roses, fragrant freesia, miniature calla lilies, dendrobium orchids and blousy hydrangea. Cascade bouquets are popular this year, and this timeless one, is right along the lines of what our brides are looking for.

A bouquet of Sahara roses was created as her toss bouquet with tons of trailing ribbon. This bouquet was constructed so that it would explode into many bouquets when tossed.

Her cake, created by JaCiva Bakery of Portland. It was created using white chocolate with white chocolate roses. We embellished it with flowers in the layers. Simple and beautiful!
