Once in a while, team FW gets a project that might be considered out of the realm of a flower shop’s regular duties…But not to us! We welcome all the quirky ‘odd requests’ with excitement, pouring into them creativity and life. This last week, we were faced with a ‘pumpkin carving party’ yard project.

A good customer came to us and requested a festive scene fit for all the ghosty and gobliny kids of the neighborhood to exercise their creative pumpkin wielding. We created a six-foot scarecrow with lighting pumpkin head, a ‘trick or treat’ pumpkin totem of stacked pumpkins and bittersweet, and a patch with beautiful autumn mums, corn, millet, apples, pumpkins, and gourds. We sure had fun doing it. And everyone seemed to enjoy it.

We meet with so many bride’s in the spring, that we are almost nonchalant about it. Summer is a distant concept. Our weddings are “down-the-road.” Certainly, we understand and value each and every bride that entrusts us with her flowers to complete the day that has taken her hours upon hours of planning and endless details. We have, as well, spent hours upon hours working with our growers and wholesalers, purchased ribbon in just the right shade of purple, babied roses and other flowers to the perfect stage, and communicated with our bride’s almost more than our own family members. But, it’s all worth it.

We finally know, after all the sweat and stress of making sure everything is just right, that we have done our job. We finally understand just how important our role is when we see our bride’s faces on their special day. Many, many times, we see our brides begin to tear up, give us a gigantic hug, and just plan gloat about “my florist” to all of their family and wedding party. We value each and every bride that comes to us, trusts us and gives us a little creative freedom to show them what we can do. Here are a few of our special bride’s bouquets from the past month. The beginning of this month started out in celebration for our store. Erik, Julie, Mollie and Sheryl traveled to San Francisco to the prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers convention held annually. This year was special, because Erik received his AIFD pin signifying top talent in our industry. We are very proud of his accomplishments and wish him all the best…for those of you that know Erik, he is still the same ole down to earth, friendly guy that we know and love. Just with a little designation to attach to his name.

Stacey’s Beautiful Wedding Flowers…

This weekend, we did wedding flowers for a bride getting married in Canby, Oregon. Beautiful weather, a perfect outdoor barn, and stunning blossoms.

Fantastic classic wedding flowers such as roses, sweetpeas, hydrangeas, orchids, and stephanotis were used in soft shades of pink, white and deep eggplant color. This soft and gardeny style fit her personality and venue perfectly. We added a bit of subtle bling with the addition of some rhinestones in her bouquet as well. Enjoy!

This weekend, we had the opportunity to create stunning flowers for Camas High School and Washougal High School graduations. We have so much fun coming up with new ideas every year. We are so thankful that our schools are open to us “working our magic” and creating something really different each year! We always have this “how can we top last year” mindset.

Camas Highschool’s graduation peice consisted of tropicals in shades of red and white…Stunning ginger, dendrobium orchids, anthurium, bamboo, and tropical foliages created the look.

For Washougal High School graduation, the sky is the limit. This year, we created an awesome vegetive style arrangement of roses, tropical foliages such as black hala and orange monstera and kalanchoe plants. To top this festive look off, we created books in stacks. Super fun!

This stunning bouquet was created for a bride at Skamania Lodge last weekend. Julie created it with the use of fragrant lilacs, late season snowball viburnum, luscious maiden hair fern, ‘Helga Piaget’ garden roses, wood hyacinth, grasses, and fern curls. This casual wonderful style fit the bride’s personality perfectly.

Sympathy flowers can create a calm and relaxing mood for family as they are greiving. This past week, we were given the opportunity to create flowers for a stunningly simple funeral held in Brush Prairie. With roses, orchids, tulips, snowball viburnum, calla lilies, and maiden hair fern, these flowers were quite dramatic.

These pieces were created for the wedding tasting at Camas Meadows Golf Club this past weekend. With creative freedom, we create stunning flowers for weddings.
