Well, August has kicked off…with lots of weddings as well at Flowers Washougal. Vibrant colors, deep purples, some soft pinks and lots of texture. Our brides are all over the board when it comes to trends! One trend is for sure…lots of texture. We call them ‘bits’ which can consist of pods, grasses, ferns, twigs…and so much more. But these ‘bits’ can really make a bouquet sing!

Some of our favs that we recommend to bride’s include poppy pods, echinaecia pods, black eyed susan centers, maidenhair fern, native grasses, billy balls, birch twigs, bark, moss, and scabiosa pods. But there are so many more things that we love to add in…given the freedom.(Our brides generally give us the freedom!)  Oh yeah…and our gaurantee? They will be delightfully surprised on their wedding day!

We have been very busy this summer in the heat of wedding season. On point with last year, July has proven to be a very successful month for weddings in the Northwest. Beautiful weather and fabulous floral product definitely helps! Here are a few of our recent weddings. Enjoy the diversity of color and style trends!

A summer breeze. An intimate gathering on the lawn. A soft organic smell is in the air. A collection of people. A melange of things. What a beautiful day for a wedding!

Hali has been one of our favorite brides this year. She really wanted a one of a kind flower experience. The wedding was set with collected wonderment, burlap, vintage tea cups and saucers, gathered containers, and succulents as favors. The flowers included everything from grandma’s garden with many additonal twists. Dahlias, hydrangeas, roses, sweetpeas, lamb’s ear, dusty miller, clematis, queen anne’s lace, euphorbia and so much more.

Her bouquet was designed in a flat european-style with stunningly textural elements and details beyond imagination.

Soft lamb’s ear artifully conceils the underside while a truly organic root becomes the handle of her bouquet.

What could be more scrumptious than a blend of peach, coral and deep orange? Add a pop of lime and wow! Stunning! This past weekend, Alyssa got married. A beautiful outdoor wedding at a private home in Camas. She loved everything romantic like these stunning ‘peach peony’ garden roses, peach colored ‘primadonna’ roses and deep hot orange ‘springtime’ spray roses. With the addition of stunningly robust white freesia and some sublime green hydrangea…her bouquet was complete. Um… almost! In every wedding, we throw a surprise. A little gem to complete the look. In Alyssa’s bouquet a simple tiny flower was added to complete the effect. Vibrant cape fuchsia florets were incorporated for a little POP! Deep coral with yellow centers, it was a wonderful surprise element.

Give the bride amazing color? Treat the attendants to a simplified color palette! Her girls had beautiful bouquets of classic white ‘avalanche’ roses, soft green hydrangea and fragrant white freesia. Beautiful, stunning and perfectly garden-wedding appropriate!

Yellow ‘Emblem’ roses, star of bethlehem, phalaenopsis orchids and succulents pair beautifully with more unique and delicate additions like dusty miller, lycopodium foliage, silver brunia, and craspedia. Overall, a true organic effect was created for Cindy. On point with trends, Cindy loved burlap, succulents, mosses, branches, jute, barked wire….pretty much anything natural. Enjoy a little glimpse at the wedding of Cindy and RJ at Camas Meadows this past weekend.

Our planning, penciling, staging and creating comes to fruition, one beautiful bride at a time. It is true, that we meet with our brides and then many times meet again. We really feel it’s important to give our brides the attention they need and make sure that we have all our ‘ducks in a row’ for their special day.

Stunning flowers were created for a very special customer in our store recently. Sheryl’s grand daughter  got married! With stunning flowers such as phalaenopsis orchids, lilies, hydrangea, freesia, roses and so much more…it was really a luscious effect!  Dramatic tones of ruby, burgundy, russett, and scarlet filled the reception.

An impomptu wedding day arrived for a darling bride, as deserving as any looking forward to a beautiful spring day. Every wish was granted for Julie. In the brightness, freshness and newness of the day, her flowers mirrored the overall feeling.

Her bouquet shown below consisted of a wonderful array of textural wonderment. From lusciously full hydrangeas and garden roses, to succulents, sweetpeas, jasmine vine, and hellebores. Some many fabulous elements were combined in this tapestry of botanical wildness.

Stunning flowers were added to embelish her beautiful cake.
